• Poland fights animal obesity
  • 20.04.2009

Today kicks off Poland’s second annual Animal Obesity Awareness Week, a campaign to educate pet owners about health problems that overweight animals can incur.

Overfeeding, too little exercise and lack of knowledge on the proper dietary needs of one’s pet contribute to obesity amongst Poland’s pets.

The campaign is meant to encourage people to visit their veterinarians to check if they are obese as the condition can lead to the development of diabetes, arthiritis, heart attacks and difficulties breathing.

The organization encourage pet owners who think their animals are too fat to visit their website. Perhaps the owner of Poland’s fattest cat Saga, the 11.7 kilogramme beast that thenews.pl reported on in March will take part in the campaign. (mmj)
