• Polish climbers head for Nanda Devi East
  • 20.04.2009

A ten-strong team of Polish climbers leaves Warsaw today for the Himalayas.

The aim of the expedition is to scale Nanda Devi East in India, a peak of 7343 metres and marks the 70th anniversary of the first Polish expedition into the Himalayas which reached the summit of Nanda Devi East.

The idea for the exploit comes from Janek Lenczowski, a grandson of Jakub Bujak, one of the members of the 1939 expedition.  (mk)
