The largest deployment of Polish soldiers in the UK since WW II are arriving in Britain to take part in the 'Druids Dance 2009' training exercises.
The exercises are part of Poland’s involvement in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, where the country is increasing its contingent from 1600 to 2000 troops.
The 130 troops from Poland are from the 15th 'Gizycka' Mechanised Brigade of the 16th 'Pomorska' Mechanised Division. One set of troops left from the port of Gdynia last week and the other flew from an airbase near Malbork, northern Poland and touched down at the Norton RAF base.
The training exercises will last around three months. (pg)
