  • 24.04.2009

Polish President Lech Kaczynski stated that the visit of India’s President Pratibha Devisingh Patil to Poland is a very important event as India is one of the most important countries in the world with a rich culture and fast pace of development.

After the two met today, Kaczynski added that the meeting touched the subjects of the global economic crisis, development in Asia and increased cooperation with the European Union.

“ I am very pleased that India is developing [economic] cooperation with the EU. There is not enough trade between Poland and India and we discussed increasing the balance,” stated the President.

“I am happy to be in Warsaw,” claimed President Patil, adding that she visited the Warsaw Rising Museum and was able to pay tribute to those who died fighting for freedom.

Patil extended an official invitation to Kaczynski to visit India, accompanied by his wife.

The two heads of state signed two agreements on cooperation, both dealing with developing trade cooperations.

President Patil thanked the Polish nation for its sympathy and support shown after the terrorist attack in Mumbai in late November 2008. (mmj)
