• Wroclaw stadium consortium chosen

A consortium of Polish, Spanish and Greek companies has been chosen to build the stadium in Wroclaw for the 2012 European football championship.

 

Mostostal Warszawa, Spain's Acciona (Polska) and Greece's J&P Avax will build the 40,000 stadium for a contract worth 170 million euros, it was announced Monday.

 

The plans, when first submitted as part of the tender process, include a sports center and swimming pool, tennmis courts and even a shooting range.

 

Wroclaw, alongside Warsaw Poznan, Krakow, Chorzow and Gdansk are all expecting to host games for the 2012 UEFA championship which Poland is co-hosting with Ukraine.

 

The UEFA Committee will announce which winning cities will taking part in the event on May 12 and 13. (pg)
