Grzegorz Napieralski

Grzegorz Napieralski (36) has been the leader of SLD since May 2008 and replaced Jerzy Szmajdzinski as the party’s candidate after he died in the April 10 air crash in western Russia.

Napieralski graduated from Szczecin university in 2000 with a masters in political science.

He was elected to parliament in 2000, 2005 and 2007 for the Szczecin constituency. He has led the Left (Lewica) group of parties in parliament since 2009 as well as being chairman of SLD.

He is married with two daughters.
