The Black Madonna of Czestochowa
Two attractive pilgrimage destinations from Poland have been presented at the pilgrimage fair trade in Rome, the JOSP Fest.
JOSP stands for Journeys of the Spirit. This religious tourism fair, although held for the first time, had a wide range and a rich multi national character. Exhibitors from all over the world took part in conferences, workshops, concerts, film screenings and cultural events. They presented pilgrimage destination from all over the world - the most obvious sites, like St Peter's Basilica in Rome, Lourdes in France, the shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico city, Santiago de Compostela in Spain, or Jerusalem; but also less known destinations.
Poland presented two pilgrimage locations: the most well-known Shrine of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa at Jasna Góra, which has a centuries long tradition of mass pilgrimages, and the sanctuary of Święty Krzyż (or Holy Cross).
