2009 sees the 20th anniversary of the Round Table talks, which were held between Febrauary and April 1989 between the Solidarity trade union and the Communist authorities.

Tadeusz Mazowiecki, who was Poland's first non-communist Prime Minister elected in June 1989, gave a lecture on the importance of the Round Table talks 20 years ago and how Solidarity got a lot more than it had originally hoped for.
