Following in the footsteps of other Warsaw universities a group of students from the Warsaw School of Economics decided to set up their own theatrical group. With the support of first the university authorities and then a local independent theater they have just staged their first play in Warsaw. Theatre enthusiasts, they say that in a world obsessed with consumer spending, technology and accelerating speed the minimalism of sitting in a dark theater room can be very appealing.
It all started in February last year when 3rd year marketing and management student at Warsaw School of Economics, Natalia Słoma came up with an idea of starting a theater group at the University. It turned out that quite many people got interested in the project. As the next step Natalia got in touch with the Independent Society of Students at Warsaw School of Economics which helped her set the rules and structure of the organization. Eventually she also won the support for her initiative of the university authorities with the university's spokesman becoming the patron of her project.
The name of the group is a play of words - Warsaw School of Economics and Warsaw Stage of Economics. The group includes about twenty students selected after several castings among university students.
