Gdańsk among this year’s top ten cities to visit as listed by the publishers of bestselling Eyewitness Travel guides.

Reputed to be the new Kraków in 2009, Gdańsk and the Polish coastline could see a new influx of visitors, write the publishers of the world’s bestselling Eyewitness guidebooks, putting this city on their list of the best cities to visit this year. Gdańsk has never been short of visitors, what with its picturesque Old Town and terraced burgher houses, strung with amber necklaces, as well as its famed “dancing shipyard cranes”, and newest history as the cradle of Solidarność trade union and contribution to the toppling of communism.
