The exhibition entitled “The Tastes and Scents of the People’s Republic of Poland” held at Warsaw’s Museum of Caricature showcases 300 illustrations featuring the life under the communist regime in the country.

The display covers the period between 1944 and 1989 and encompasses works by 73 prominent artists, including Jerzy Flisak, Andrzej Mleczko and Eryk Lipiński, founder of the museum. The exhibition portrays the absurdities of everyday life such as empty shelves in shops, endless queues or the infamous crude behaviour of civil servants.
