Poland's head of diplomacy set out the priorities of this country's foreign policy and spoke of the achievement on the international arena.
Radoslaw Sikorski opened his expose with reminding of the tragic death of the Polish engineer kidnapped and killed by Taliban militants. The Polish head of diplomacy underlined that one of the priority goals is Poland's participation in the fight in terrorism.
Polish Foreign Minister spoke of an opening in Polish-Russian relations based on compromise instead of rhetoric Sikorski said Russia's recent row with Ukraine over gas was proof that energy can have political effects, and that Europe should lower its reliance on foreign energy.
Poland's head of diplomacy spoke of the need of the EU to work out a common policy towards Russia, towards energy security. He underlined the acknowledgement Poland has among EU partners as a competent player in eastern matters.He reminded that this country will hold the rotating EU presidency in 2011 and said that the top issues will be the eastern policy of the EU and the development of the joint foreign policy and secutrity of the EU. Sikorski pointed he hoped that the Lisbon Treaty will come into life this year
Sikorski spoke of relations between Poland and Germany, and of the need to continue developing ties with the US as a partner of Poland and as a partner of the EU as well as underlined the importance Poland pays to eastern integration.
