"Hero Collection" - the company from Poznan, western Poland has produced historical uniforms for "Valkyrie" - the new movie depicting unsuccessful assassination attempt on the life of Adolf Hitler, and starring Tom Cruise as the man behind the plot - colonel Claus Schenke Graf von Stauffenberg. This is not the first time that "Hero Collection" has been involved in work on such a publicized project, among those best known are "The Pianist" and the latest Quentin Tarantino production called "Inglorious Basterds".
"Hero Collection" is a Poznan-based company created in 1999 which, according to its website, can deliver professional uniform service for movie, TV and theatre productions virtually all over the world. Its service so far could be seen in international productions such as: “The Grey Zone”, “The Pianist”, “Band Of Brothers”, “Islands At War”, and “Karol, The Man Who Became The Pope” to name just a few. All in all, eight hundred uniforms were commissioned for "Valkiria", including customized uniforms for the main character played by Tom Cruise and a variety of uniforms for German officers.
"Hero Collection" will now work on the new Peter Weir movie titled "The Way Back" telling the story of a real-life escape of Polish officers from a Siberian gulag in the 1940s, with Colin Ferrell playing the main role which will be shot in Bulgaria. That movie will also feature a Polish actor - Radoslaw Smuzny from Torun.
