The informal meeting of NATO defence ministers in Kraków concludes today. Even though no concrete decisions have been made about the future of the alliance, Poland and the US have signed an agreement that will see their special forces in Afghanistan engage in deeper co-operation in areas such as tactical planning and training.

Polish Defence Minister Bogdan Klich and his US counterpart Robert Gates met and signed an agreement of military co-operation, notably in Afghanistan. Talk of helping the civilian population of the country was also present, especially with the upcoming election there. However, civilian loss of life is inevitable, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer (pictured) said to the press at the informal meeting of defence ministers in Kraków. But what do Afghans really think about foreign soldiers in their country?
