The two day international conference brought together politicians and experts to debate and exchange views on the best way of securing energy interests of EU countries to avoid situations of dictate by external gas, oil and electricity suppliers.  

Arguments were raised in favor of the so-called 'third package' presently prepared by Brussels as an effective tool in safeguarding the European Union from any successive energy related crisis. It provides for an integrated policy of member countries in this respect. This energy security package could be adopted already in April. 

EU commissioner for energy Andris Piebalgs focused on the necessity of stocking as a crucial element of securing Union member countries against an energy crisis situation.
