The Unia & Polska Foundation, PAUCI Polish Ukrainian-Cooperation Foundation, the Institute of Public Affairs and the Ukrainian Catholic University have issued an open letter stating that the democratic transformation of the country is threatened by the authoritarian conduct of the Moldovan government.

The current situation in Moldova has sparked concern over the Eastern Partnership programme, developed by Poland and Sweden aimed at strengthening ties with EU’s Eastern neighbours, such as Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. The Polish government hopes the conflict will be resolved in a peaceful way, in line with the rules of democracy. Krzysztof Bobiński believes that though the unrest has died down, repressions continue, and human rights and freedom of speech are still being violated.
