Ghost hunting, paranormal and esoteric travel is just one of the new trends in what has become known as cultural tourism. This, along with themes such as thanatotourism, archeological tourism, Jewish heritage, military interest or enotourism, was discussed at a recent conference in Gniezno, looking at new openings for promotion of Poland’s mid-west, but not only.
Karolina Buczkowska from the Tourism Department at the Academy of Physical Training in Poznań was co-organizer of the conference. As she says, this form of travel was as yet not very popular in Poland – barring a company or two, mostly catering for foreign visitors.
