Over 440,000 students from more than 8,000 high schools are sitting their final exams in Polish. As usual the exams take place amid concerns over procedures undertaken against cheating and plagiarism.

The Polish language exam began at 9 a.m. The materials, sealed in special envelopes, had been delivered to schools nationwide on the same day, early morning so as to avoid leaks, which had taken place during the junior high school finals in April.

Education Minister Katarzyna Hall claims the ministry has learned a lesson from the incident and has undertaken all necessary measures to avoid similar situations in the future, but has added that a lot depends on the teachers and education staff of given schools. Students themselves remember the junior high exam leaks, but appear to approach the topic with a fair dose of skepticism.

Yet apart from sheer speculation on expected exam questions some students look for more deceptive ways of getting better marks, as is the case of oral presentations at the Polish language exams.
