Their project YOUrope Needs YOU promotes a shared sense of European identity and understanding among young people.

Michal Kubicki reports

Polish students, members of AEGEE (Association des Etats Generaux des Etudiants de l’Europe / European Student Forum) have won this year’s European Charlemagne Youth Prize Competition organized by the European Parliament. Their project YOUrope Needs YOU defeated twenty six other projects from across Europe.

Its underlying idea can be summed up as: Europe needs young people – their enthusiasm and motivation. YOUrope Needs YOU is the motto of a series of training sessions organized by Polish students in Krakow earlier this year. They were addressed to students who will later use their newly acquired skills in running workshops for high-school students. The overriding goal is to show the opportunities which Europe offers, encourage them to be active in society and motivate them to do something for their schools and communities.
