Poznan

One of the weeklies published a ranking list of Poland's most citizen friendly cities. How accurate is the rating?

Joanna Najfeld reports

The weekly Przekroj looked at 26 Polish cities with more than 175,000 inhabitants in twenty four categories and ranked them on: unemployment rate and average salary, the cost of living and real estate, quality of medical services, level of education, availability of public transport and the length of bicycle paths, plus the number of kindergartens and nurseries, access to internet and cultural venues, sports facilities, crime rate, and others.

Poznan, central west, turned out to be the most citizen-friendly city in Poland. Rzeszow, south east, ranks second. Then comes the southern Krakow, southwestern Wroclaw and north-eastern Olsztyn. Warsaw, the capital is not even in the first ten.

The ranking list is by no means scientific, but it sparks interesting reactions from residents of the cities.
