There’s an exhibition now on in Gdansk which shows all the best architecture that the city has to offer… without moving from the beach.

Elzbieta Krajewska reports

An altogether new city has grown on the beach in Gdansk, constructed from sand. This is the Spirit of Gdansk Architecture - the city’s third festival of sand sculpture, which launched officially on July 5th. 32 international artists worked for two weeks, using 3 thousand tonnes of sand to build 16 best-known Gdańsk monuments, as well as a ship, a train, figures of Old Gdansk residents and animals.

Hopefully, in spite of the weather, the sculptures will survive until the end of summer. There is an entrance fee to see them, but the ticket doubles as a souvenir brochure of the exhibition.
