Zbigniew Zapasiewicz

A sad day for Polish culture: one of Poland’s greatest theatre and cinema actors, Zbigniew Zapasiewicz, has died suddenly in Warsaw.

Zbigniew Zapasiewicz was one of the most recognizable personalities of Polish theatre and cinema, actor, film director, teacher. He had turned to acting after a brief encounter with chemistry studies. His stage career began in 1956, and he debuted in films in 1963. Over the years he became associated with a number of theatrical companies in Warsaw; apart from cinema he also acted in drama productions for TV.

 

His death has stunned cultural circles in Poland: the actor had been full of holiday plans, and was shooting yet another picture with director Krzysztof Zanussi. Zbigniew Zapasiewicz would have been 75 in September.
