A report by the Finance Ministry indicates Poland currently satisfies only a single Maastricht criterion to adopt the European currency.
Report by Slawek Szefs
A report issued this week by the Finance Ministry clearly shows Poland will be ready to adopt the European currency no sooner than in a few years, thus extending the government set 2012 euro-zone entry schedule approved in October last year.
"For the moment Poland satisfies only the convergence criterion which regards the long term interest rate. The remaining requirements are not met due to the lasting economic crisis. These pertain mostly to the fiscal criterion, also the stability of prices and currency exchange rate." revealed a FM spokesperson.
