The main Polish commemorations of the outbreak of World War Two have been held at Westerplatte, in Gdansk, in the early morning hours. It is officially considered the place where exactly 70 years ago the first shots of the most tragic conflict in the history of Mankind were fired by the Nazis. 


A special ceremony took place at Westerplatte honoring the heroes of the uneven battle of 70 years ago and paying tribute to all victims of World War Two, which claimed the lives of some 60 million people.
