Forty one year-old Pawel Piskorski is a former secretary general of the Civic Platform. Several years ago, he was expelled from that party. Having concluded his term as a member of the European Parliament, he decided to give a new lease of life to the Democratic Party, once a satellite to the communist party, in 1989 helping to form the first Solidarity-led government in 1989 and then virtually disappearing from the political scene.
