Announcing the biggest government reshuffle in Poland since 1989 PM Donald Tusk said the aim was to ensure a fully unbiased explanation of the gambling lobby scandal, the so-called "Blackjack Gate" involving top politicians from his ruling Civic Platform.

The opposition Law and Justice Party  (PiS) criticised the move calling it a "spectacle and reshuffle of pawns". According to the opposition Democratic Left Alliance SLD,  the move was aimed solely at protecting the Civic Platform's interests.

Analysts say the move showed Mr Tusk is in full control of the crisis and launched his presidential campaign.
