The aim of the stay was to look at the different approaches that the national parks in the United States and Poland have to the similar challenges. These concern a wide range of issues, including the impact of tourism and skiing on nature and the role of volunteers in park maintenance.

The Tatra National Parks in Poland and Slovakia have been cooperating with the Rocky Mountain Park since 2007. More joint conferences and exchange visits are planned for next year.
