Founded at the beginning of the 1990s by a priest of the Congregation of the Mission, the idea was to create a place where children could come and be assisted in all sorts of ways, from education, to mutual self-help.
The “U Siemachy” assocation’s main building is on Dluga street in the heart of Poland’s southern city. Father Siemaszko, a Vincentian priest after whom the centre is named, first had the idea of helping Cracovian children in need back in the 19th century, and his legacy is what forms “U Siemachy”today.
Because of the associations need for money, a number of different commerical enterprises make donations to the “U Siemachy” association, as well as gaining public contracts with local councils, especially in Krakow.
