Franciszek Smuda has been appointed as the 44th coach of the Polish national football team.

He is to lead Poland to the Euro 2012 championships, which Poland is hosting with its neighbour Ukraine. He has a tough job ahead of him, as the Polish team lies in ruins after their failure to qualify for the World Cup, with losses against rivals such as Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Slovenia.

 

Franciszek Smuda is a 61-year old coach known for having a fiery temperament, but thanks to this he has had many successes in the Polish league. He managed to win three Polish league titles with Widzew Łodz and Wisła Krakow.
