Washington-based American Polish Forum aims to bring the Christmas spirit to the 2,000 Polish soldiers stationed in Afghanstan, with its newly launched initiative.

Held under the slogan Adopt a Polish Soldier, the care-package initiative is financed by 25-USD donations collected from across the world.

The humanitarian mission has gained the support from foreign affairs officials on the political arena both in Washington and Warsaw, with backing from former US national security adviser Zbigniew Brzeziński, former and current US Ambassadors to Poland, Christopher Hill and Lee Feinstein as well as Polish Foreign Affairs Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.

Alicja Baczyńska talks to Eva Blaszczynski, sponsorship director of the organisation, about the initiative.
