Polish organizations of Nazi victims expect compensation from German Rail.
Report by Slawek Szefs
Two biggest Polish organizations grouping victims of the Nazi Third Reich intend to appeal to the company for financial support to former concentration camp inmates and forced laborers. The organizations base their claim on the fact that the wartime Reichsbahn had earned the equivalent of half a billion euro from Nazi ordered transport of captives destined for death camps and forced labor in Germany. The present Deutsche Bahn was created directly from the company assets of its World War Two predecessor, they argue.
This comes at a time when DB is enterring Polish rail routes with its services.
