EC forecasts speak of Poland as the second strongest growing EU economy in 2010.
Report by Slawek Szefs
According to the European Commission Poland could place right after Slovakia with an overall 1.8 per cent economic growth rate in the coming 12 months. This would be quite impressive, given the envisaged 0.7 per cent EU average. IMF predictions for Poland have been even more optimistic in this respect showing forecasts of over 2 per cent growth.
Polish experts share this optimism but point to the situation on recession ridden international markets as one of the prime factors influencing this country's performance. Poland is part of the global and European economy therefore much of its growth prospects depend on what shall happen, for instance, in Western Europe. (ss)
