February 23 is observed as the National Day of Fight with Depression in Poland. Experts warn that even every third adult Pole - or approximately ten percent of the population - may be suffer from depression according to latest statistics.

As every year, the National Day of Fight with Depression is an opportunity to remind Poles that it is an illness which can be cured. This year's edition is held under the slogan "Depression and Insomnia".
 
According to the World Health Organization, a long-term and severe depression of mood is the fourth most important health problem in the world. An estimated 6 to 10 percent of people suffer from it worlwide and Poland is no exception here - even every third adult Pole - or approximately ten percent of the population may be suffering from depression according to latest statistics. Only half of those affected, however, get professional treatment.
