The European Green Cities Index, a survey which allows for the comparison of across cities through certain citeria and grouping them in eight categories, has ranked Warsaw as the 16th ecological city of Europe.

The list is topped by Scandinavian cities with Copenhagen leading overall and coming before Stockholm and Oslo. Among the EU new members Warsaw comes after Vilnius and the Latvian capital Riga, but precedes Dublin. Deputy mayor of Warsaw Jaroslaw Kochaniak considers that the 16th place is nota a bad ranking.
