Every fifth school-aged child in Poland is overweight, shows a study run by the Children’s Health Institute.

Alicja Baczyńska reports

Almost 18,000 Poles aged from 7 to 18 were examined across the country, thus composing the largest such research in Poland. The new standards gave a clearer view of the problem in the country, indicating that 20 percent among the studied population is overweight or obese. Although the findings confirm previous studies on the issue, the magnitude of the prevalence was higher than expected.
