”City of Ruins”  is a five-minute animated 3D aerial trip over Warsaw, or rather over what remained of the city in 1945. The film officially premieres at the Warsaw Rising Museum on August 1 – the 66th anniversary of the outbreak of the uprising.

As the film titles say, on September 1, 1939  Warsaw had a population of one million 300 thousand. On August 1, 1944, the day when the uprising broke out,   900 thousand people lived in Warsaw. After its collapse, in 1945 there were fewer than a thousand people living in the ruins.

Elzbieta Krajewska spoke to Agnieszka Piechnik from Platige Image, the studio which realized the film. Click to the audio icon above to listen to the interview.
