“I left everything and fled,” said a Pole who has been running a pizzeria in Tunisia, part of the first group of Poles who returned from the riot-torn country this morning.

“I left everything and came back,” Krzysztof Dzwonkowski told TVP public television this morning after his plane touched down in Katowice airport after flying in from Monistir in Tunisia.

The man had spent one and a half years in Tunisia but the upheavals in the country which led to the collapse of the administration of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali persuaded him to return home to Poland.
