Albin Batycki, a Polish wheelchair tennis champion and a social activist received the main prize in the "World Without Barriers 2008" contest organised annually by the Friends of Integration Association.

Its aim is to reward people who overcome their disabilities and are active and successful in spite of their limitations. Among other disabled athletes distinguished during a ceremonial gala at in Warsaw were a table tennis player born without a right hand and forearm, one of the most successful disabled Polish track and a paralympic champion in tandem cycling. The "World Without Barriers 2008" contest was held under the honorary patronage of Poland's First Lady, Maria Kaczynska.
