According to Palestinian medical services over five hundred Palestinians have been killed and two and a half thousand wounded since the start of the Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip. Of those killed 87 were children.
Palestinian settlements have been shelled with heavy fire. The damages are immense and the civilian population is in dire need of humanitarian aid. This has already been provided to a certain extent by the UN, but a truly concerted international effort is further required.
The Polish Humanitarian Organization (PAH) has responded with a nationwide campaign to collect funds for the most urgent needs of the people stranded in the Ghaza region. Janina Ochojska, the founder and head of this internationally known Polish NGO, stresses help is to be extended to both sides of the conflict.
