As the Russian-Ukrainian conflict over gas prices continues to evoke EU concern, many Polish politicians and experts are becoming more convinced that there is far more to this dispute than just current financial considerations.
Russian PM Vladimir Putin has criticized Kiev for what he implied as corruptive practices. The move has been clearly intended to discredit the Ukrainian side as a credible economic partner. It seems the action is part of a broader campaign aimed at convincing Russia's European partners that the limping Northern Gas Pipeline project must be brought back to primary focus.
