Marcin Libicki, his son Jan Filip Libicki and Jacek Tomczak, all members of Law and Justice (PiS), want to leave the party after Marcin Libicki was removed from the EU electoral roll.
The discontented Law and Justice politicians will be accompanied by three or even more members of the local government in the western city of Poznan, who neither agree with the decision, say press reports.
“We think that removing Marcin Libicki from the electoral roll was deeply unjust and harmful. As a mark of protest we decided to leave the party,” said Jan Filip Libicki.
Marcin Libicki is one of the most well-known of Poland’s European MEPs but was not included in the EU electoral roll because he is being vetted by the Regional Court in Poznan, a process he himself asked for because of rumours about his alleged cooperation with the communist Security Service. (mg)
