The Foreign Ministry has said that the burning of wreaths at the cemetery of Soviet soldiers in Warsaw was not an act of vandalism.
In its response to a Russia diplomatic note, which described the incident as a “barbaric desecration” of the cemetery in the north east of the capital, a ministry spokesman said that the results of an investigation into the incident will be presented to the Russian Federation.
Police findings so far indicate that the burning of the wreaths, placed at the cemetery on May 9 to mark the end of World War II, was not an act of arson.
Despite this, the Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman expressed his regrets over the incident. (mk/pg)
