• Major opposition party wants Finance Minister dismissed
  • 16.05.2009

Deputy House Speaker Krzysztof Putra of the major opposition Law and Justice party said the party will file a motion to dismiss Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski, at the nearest session of the parliament.

According to Putra, the opposition warned against the coming crisis last year, but the government kept insisting there was no such threat to Poland. 'What minister Rostowski is currently doing is beginning to irritate even the Prime Minister. It will lead Polish economy to ruin. You cannot care only for public relations, you have to apply real measures to fight the crisis,' said Putra.

Due to parliamentary regulations, the debate on the dismissal of the Finance Minister will not take place before the European Parliament election.
