• Summit on farming at palace
  • 20.05.2009

An agricultural summit is scheduled to take place at the Presidential palace today.

Farmers' trade unions, government representatives, local government officials, scholars, NGOs and parliamentarians specializing in agricultural issues are to convene at the President's headquarters to work out a common strategy for rural regions.

“Hopes are high. This summit is not political. Representatives of all organizations and institutions who have knowledge and opinions on farming issues have been invited,” said Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, the presidential advisor on agricultural issues.

Earlier this year, President Lech Kaczynski organized a social summit on ways to combat the global economic crisis. He also announced he would call a summit to debate Poland's entrance to the euro zone. (jn/mmj)
