Speaker of the Sejm Bronislaw Komorowski unveiled a huge blue balloon in the parliament building today to symbolize ‘pumping up frequency,’ referring to voter turnout.
“Together, we want to pump up frequency,” stated the speaker of the lower house of parliament, Komorowski. Together with MPs Jerzy Szmajdzinski, Krzysztof Putra, and Jaroslaw Kalinowski, they launched a campaign to increase voter turnout for the June 7 elections to the European Parliament.
At the launch ceremony, the MPs, to the tune of ‘Ode to Joy,’ opened a gas bottle and, moments later, a large blue balloon rose into the air in the antechamber of the building. The three-metre balloon bears the slogan ‘June Seventh.’
“We are hoping that voter turnout will increase to such a level that will make us proud of Poland,” stated Komorowski, adding that the current level of voter turnout is not the best and only about 33 percent of Poles vote.
“You as a citizen, you as a European, you as a Pole, you decide about really important things for European integration – things important for Poland,” emphasized the Speaker. (mmj)
