• Government continues to lose support
  • 21.05.2009

Support for the government has fallen for the fourth month running, according to a new poll by the CBOS agency.

For the first time since Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s government came to power in late 2007, critical opinions are outweigh positive ones on the administration. Forty five percent of voters had a negative opinion of the Civic Platform/Polish Peasant’s Party coalition – down two percent from last month - 42 percent voiced positive support for it.

The Prime Minister has lost three percentage supports, though his rating is still impressive at 48 percent for to 39 against.

In a month that has seen many protests in the capital and elsewhere against the government’s policy towards the Baltic shipyards and much else besides, support for the government’s economic policy has actually increased - up by 4 points to 36 percent, though the majority of Poles, 51 percent, remain critical.
