'We will not pay for your crisis' is the slogan for today’s Sierpien 80 demonstration.
Representatives of the Trade Union Sierpien 80, ‘August 80’, are planning a demonstration in Warsaw that is expected to block streets.
The picket is to begin at 1 pm in front of the Lower House buildings near Three Crosses Place in the city centre. The unionists are then to march to the Prime Minister's office.
Boguslaw Zietek, the leader of Sierpien 80, said the demonstration is just one element in the battle to improve working conditions in the country.
The Union does not accept that the employees are the major victims of the crisis. They oppose job reductions and liquidation of enterprises. The demonstration in the capital is to be compounded by health care trade unions joining them. (ab/mmj)
