  • 24.05.2009
A citizen of the United States has become the third person to be detected with the swine flu virus in Poland.

The man, who arrived in Poland on Friday from the US on a LOT flight via Munich, was examined in a hospital in Chorzow, south west Poland, but has since checked himself out. A spokesperson from Sanepid, the state hygiene regulator, has said that it is looking into ways of demanding that the man, and his family, return to hospital and be quarantined.

The authorities are also trying to locate passengers on the LOT flight from the US.

Previously, a 42 year old man and a 58 year old woman were found to have been infected with the A/H1N1 virus but are now both recovered. So far 86 people have died from the recent outbreak of swine flu worldwide, 75 of them citizens of Mexico. (pg)
