  • 27.05.2009

A hospital in Krakow, southern Poland, is treating the fourth person to come down with the A/H1N1 virus in Poland.

The 35 year old man came to Poland last Friday from New York via Frankfurt in Germany. Last Sunday, he felt ill and noticed that he had the symptoms of flu. The next day he was admitted to the Krakow hospital.

“The patient's condition is fairly good,” says the spokesperson at the Zeromski hospital in Krakow.

The patient’s relatives are under supervision but currently all of them feel fine. However, Sanepid, Poland’s state hygiene service, is requesting all of the passengers from Friday’s flight LH-3306 from Frankfurt to Krakow who have any flu symptoms to attend the closest Sanepid facility or to contact a doctor.

Previously, a 21 year old American of Polish origin, a 42 year old man and a 58 year old woman were found to have been infected with the A/H1N1 virus but are now all recovered. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 92 people have died from the recent outbreak of swine flu worldwide, the vast majority of them were citizens of Mexico. (jg/pg)
