Andrzej Olechowski
Andrzej Olechowski, co-founder of Civic Platform, should replace Donald Tusk as the head of the party if Tusk becomes president, shows a survey conducted by Gfk Polonia.
Strong support for Andrzej Olechowski (21 percent of votes), Civic Platform’s candidate for president in 2002, is rather surprising as he withdrew from politics long ago. Active Civic Platform politicians, such as Bronislaw Komorowski, and Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz were less successful. The Speaker of the Lower House of the Polish Parliament gained 17 percent of votes and the mayor of Warsaw – 12 percent.
The greatest loser, as the survey implies, is Grzegorz Schetyna, deputy Prime Minister, who did not obtain significant support from the society as opposed to politicians who perceive him as Donald Tusk’s successor.
The survey was conducted on 15 June among 500 Poles. (mg)
